Villa Matilda
Feel good living on the country-side
Villa Matilda is located in the middle of the nature, on a top of a large hill, on the countryside of Southern Finland. Behind the house is a pristine forest, which is enjoyed by the outdoor-loving family. The post box is 350 meters away and the closest neighbor is 100 meters away but the largest airport of Finland can be reached within 13 minutes by car.
The architecture of the house emphasizes cosiness and functionality. The log building has classic style and blends well into the Finnish landscape. The interior of the house is modern and harmonious, a look accomplished with natural, earthy tones.
Our quality of life has increased not only by the pleasant inside air but also the tranquility of the house.
The house is built with the non-settling Honka Fusion logs. The non-settling Honka Fusion walls offer carefree maintenance and good energy-efficiency. The log walls are visible only partly in the interior. In the bedrooms were left in their natural form, as requested by the family.
The floor area of 276 square meters has been functionally divided into two parts. There is a spacious living area on the ground floor with a combined kitchen / dining room. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a maintenance room are also located in the ground floor. The living room is open all the way to the first floor and offers views over the trees and fields. The library on the first floor provides a tranquil haven for members of the family – a space for reading, listening to music and relaxing.
The family was pleased with the building project that went smoothly throughout. The foundation of their home was laid in January 2007. The massive wood frame was erected as spring arrived and the interior of the house was finished in November of the same year.
