At the forefront of the wood processing industry
The basis of modern log technology, created by Honka, the pioneer of the industry, lies in experience and continuous research and development.
Since 1958, Honka has delivered approximately 85,000 log buildings to locations all over the world and come up with a number of innovations. Patented Honka technology serves faultlessly in all climates and geographical circumstances.
Pioneering log expertise
Honka is the first industrial manufacturer of log houses. So it is not surprising that we have also created many of the innovations and technical solutions used in the industry today. We have developed much of the technology we use today ourselves. One of these technologies is the industrial manufacturing of round and laminated logs, which is almost entirely automated and the prefabrication process is computer-assisted. Other examples of the ground-breaking work we’ve done include the development of laminated log technology, the incorporation of CAD planning into the production process and creating the non-settling Honka Fusion log structure.
top-notch technology
All Honka log homes and buildings are manufactured in the world’s most modern log house factory in Karstula, Finland. The manufacturing site is brimming with unique technologies, created in-house, and the latest massive investments took place in 2014. The high level of automation helps ensure that the woodwork behind every Honka house is dimensionally accurate. It also makes the on-site installation and building processes quick and easy.
When it comes to developing our production and quality, we’re just as passionate today as we’ve always been. We are proud to say that our houses are some of the most airtight, moisture safe and earthquake resistant in the market.

Continuous research and development
When it comes to developing our production and quality-assurance processes, we’re just as passionate today as we’ve always been. Our research and development team works closely with the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and a broad global network of universities.
We are also continuously refining our production processes. Leftover wood is used to make other products, and whatever scraps are left are burned to season the logs used to build Honka houses.
Our operations are certified in accordance with the ISO 14001 environmental standard and we have been granted the ISO 90004 quality certificate.
