How to create the traditional log home look
Symmetrical house plans, decorative lattices, verandas and beautiful, light-filled bay windows and gable walls – these are some of the typical characteristics of traditional log homes.
Made from the round log or increasingly from the squared log, the classic log home is the epitome of cosy, natural living. There are many different styling options that allow you to personalise your own log home.

Choice of log. Logs are chosen based on the purpose of the building and personal preferences. The majestic round log is especially suited for traditional log cabins. For residential living, clear-cut squared logs are becoming more of a standard.
Corner types. The appearance of a log home can be greatly affected by the length of the corners. A typical choice for log cabins is the traditional cross corner. The alternatives to this include the short cross corner, the cage corner and the Honka Zero corner, our latest innovation.
Roof shapes. The gable roof and cross-gable roof are typical roof shapes for traditional log homes. Dormer windows can be added to create more light and space upstairs. The dormer space can then be furnished as a sleeping area, for example.
Bay windows. Classic log homes are often symmetrical and built around the central bay window or glazed gable wall. Large windows and high ceilings create airy spaces filled with natural light, perfect for social activities or tranquil relaxation.
Pergolas and verandas. A breakfast terrace, porch or summer room, pergolas and verandas give you more space for a wide variety of purposes. Glass roofings turn your terrace into a cosy living space bathing in light.
Inviting interiors. There are many different styles and inspiring ideas for decorating a traditional log home or log cabin. You can go for a rustic or a luxurious style. The genuine wood will make sure your home is cosy and warm.
