Healthy homes inspired by Nordic nature
Wood has been loved by people throughout the ages. It is soothing, aesthetically pleasing and it performs well acoustically. It absorbs sounds and creates a calming, relaxing atmosphere.
A genuine Honka log home provides a healthy living environment with organic building materials, high indoor air quality and a warm, stress-reducing atmosphere. It’s an ecological home that quite literally takes good care of the people within its walls.
Healthy homes with high indoor air quality
We at Honka are passionate about good living. We believe in creating architecturally beautiful, functional and most importantly, healthy log houses that are built for families and generations to come.
Log buildings naturally promote good health. Solid wood has the unique ability to absorb moisture and release it back into the air as the room dries. This balances the indoor air humidity to a level between 30 – 50 % which is optimal for the health of the people living inside.
The number one reason for choosing a Honka house was to have a healthy home for our family which suffers from allergies and asthma. We already have experience of a poorly built hous – we definitely didn’t need another one.
Our houses are built from Finnish pine that is sourced from PEFC-certified Finnish forests. It is a 100 % renewable and organic construction material – the perfect choice for solid wood structures.
To us, building with logs means creating natural structures without resorting to synthetic insulation solutions or vapour barriers. Honka log homes are plastic-free and breathe naturally. When insulation is needed, we recommend wood based insulation that maintains the natural health benefits of solid wood.
Honka is widely recognised as a provider of high-quality log houses. You can sleep well in your new home, knowing that the solutions are certified, safe and that your house is built to last for centuries. And that your house is produced in a sustainable way.

The soundscape of a log house is quiet. Combined with the natural warmth of genuine wood and the good indoor air quality, it creates a very comfortable living environment.
Numerous studies have also demonstrated that environments with wooden structures lower blood pressure and heart rate and induce feelings of relaxation. It seems that wooden environments reduce stress, just like walking in the woods.
