Holiday resort Arttysur Lux Village

Located in the majestic Sierra Nevada, the highest southern mountain range in Spain, Arttysur Lux Village is an exclusive log-built eco-resort that will comprise of 15 holiday homes and two 5-star hotels. Premium design, an offering of sustainable natural wood and accuracy of the delivery were the reasons why Honka was chosen as the building partner of this stunning ski resort. The building phase started in November 2019 and a non-settling Honka Fusion log was selected as the building material due to its super earthquake resistance, sustainability and modern design possibilities. Honka Fusion™ is a unique solution that allows genuine massive wood to be easily combined with other building materials, such as glass, stone and steel. Because the resort is located near the Mediterranean coast and its humid weather conditions, durable and breathable solid wood was the optimal choice for the customer.

The eco-resort’s apartments are energy-efficient, and the floor plans have been designed for optimal use of space. The architectural planning was done by RG Arquitectos. The three-story 165 square-metre holiday homes have all two large terraces, one accessed from the living room and the other from the master bedroom. Spacious open-concept living areas offer 180-degree panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada from the triple-glazed large windows. In each apartment, there are also four cosy bedrooms and a useful loft floor with skylight windows.

The charm of natural wooden surfaces combined with modern aesthetics is the key to wellbeing in these harmonious homes. Honka’s massive wood and building solutions provide a healthy living environment with high indoor air quality and a warm, stress-reducing atmosphere. Honka log homes are crafted from the finest wood, with decades of experience. This Finnish Pine is sourced from sustainably managed PEFC-certified forests and it is exceptionally hard, particularly the heartwood. Pine can withstand changes in humidity with little to no cracking, which makes it the perfect choice for construction.

The location for construction was challenging, which was also one of the reasons justifying the choice of logs as the building material. When needed, logs can be easily carried one at a time, and the builders can handle them manually in a restricted access. In addition, one main advantage of this construction technology is that the structure of the building can be erected so quickly.
