Honka exhibits two residential houses at the housing fair 2014 in Finland
Press release 12.11.2013
The world’s leading manufacturer and marketer of genuine massive wood buildings, Honka, will exhibit two residential houses at the annual Finnish Housing Fair, organized in summer 2014 in the city of Jyväskylä, Finland.
The two-storey Honka Harmonia is a massive wood home that will be turn-key built for a five-person family suffering from allergies, and the single-storey Honka Kaarna is a natural and modern house for two adults. These personalised massive wood houses have been individually designed based on the needs of the customer families that commissioned them.
A Honka home is healthy, ecological and Finnish
Honka’s ecological show houses are built of non-settling Honka Fusion laminated logs manufactured from Finnish pine. The breathing log wall has been built with no vapour-blocking plastic in the structure. The wall’s massive wood keeps the humidity of the internal air at an ideal level in terms of health, which prevents the growth of harmful microbes and fungal spores that cause allergy.
Honka Harmonia: A turn-key home for a family suffering from allergies
A massive wood home in the Housing Fair area is being turn-key built by Honka for the five-person Rönnkvist family to move into. Suffering from allergies, for this family the healthy internal air of a massive wood house is the most important thing. In selecting the house’s building materials, fixtures and fittings, paints and wallpapers, attention is being paid to their organic nature and health-promoting attributes.
”We already have experience of a poorly built house – we certainly don’t need another mouldy one. The number one thing now is healthy living, which is guaranteed in this massive wood house,” says Marjo, the mother of the family.
In addition to the healthiness of the internal air, the design of the house has also focused on overall well-being in terms of pleasant acoustics, subtle lighting and the harmony of the interior decoration. The construction of massive wood house of logs is fast. The foundations of the Honka Harmonia house were cast in week 44 of 2013 and the house will be ready for the fair.
