We are adding three new attractive log homes to our detached house range. As with all our models, they have a great feeling of space and plenty of natural light. Honkarakenne’s team of architects have ensured that these fantastic, spacious houses also have extremely functional floor plans. Our head architect Anne Mäkinen presents the autumn’s stylish newcomers that merge the landscape and the home: Honka Havu, Sumu and the much-awaited two-storey Touko.
Is it possible to combine the best aspects of residential and holiday home living?
This autumn’s new models were designed with a special emphasis on a feeling of space. Because of the exceptional times we live in, our customers still have a real need for more space and adaptability in their homes. Our new autumn models meet this need. I feel that our customers are also looking for ideal environments for their homes, and this does not necessarily have to be in the town or city.
The new models combine the best aspects of residential and holiday home living, which is something people are very interested in these days. The high landscape windows wonderfully bridge the gap between the home and the nature outside, and the homes also contain quiet corners that make ideal spaces for remote working. The floor plans create an architectural feeling of space, without wasting any floor area. The Havu, Sumu and Touko models are ideal as city homes in zoned areas or for year-round leisure living.
Honka Havu is an impressive log house for a young family with modern needs. Its novel and efficient floor plan includes an island around which you can access all the rooms. The large windows of the high-ceiling living room open towards the landscape and provide light to the upper floor. The lobby is also high, with plenty of natural light. The large bedroom and living area upstairs guarantee pleasant living for the family’s adults also. A remote workstation can easily be set up in the bedroom or living area.
“Havu’s architectural language is superbly minimalist, with several entry points that make the floor plan especially innovative. At the same time, however, each space allows for seclusion. The house feels very spacious, and the Honka Frame landscape windows really illuminate the high-ceilinged living room and bring it to life.”

With its charming combination of natural lighting and a strong connection with its surroundings, Honka Sumu makes a truly delightful home. The large landscape windows provide excellent natural lighting, and there is a view in opposite directions from the lounge. The more private rooms are in the wings. A roofed patio provides shelter and makes life even more pleasant, offering extra outdoor space during the warm months. The spacious bedrooms with landscape windows create a good setting for working remotely. The efficient single-level floor plan is as well suited for families with children as it is for couples.
“Sumu is a more compact sibling of our popular Apollo log house. The impressive landscape windows in two directions and the spacious, 25 m2 patio create a strong feeling that you’re living in a space that is perfectly balanced between the indoor and outdoor environment. The Sumu design is simple and stylish.”

Honka Touko is an eye-catching dream log house with an impressive end window that really adds character. This model has proved so popular that we have created a two-storey version for those who value stunning landscapes and an even greater feeling of large space. The classic gable roof is skilfully combined with modern details, and what’s best, the floor plan is highly functional and efficient for a family with children.
“Touko’s high-ceilinged living room almost has a sacral feeling to it. The large end window provides a fantastic view and illuminates the rooms – even the upstairs areas, where you can just sit and take in the view. This model also gives a feeling of being close to nature.”
