This spring’s new holiday house models have been designed to meet each customers’ unique needs without compromising on the views In addition to the more compact cottage models, the new options include two spectacular second homes for year-round use. Our team of architects and designers were inspired by our customers’ Honka villas, and decided to take the solutions one step further without compromising on spatial planning, functionality, or views. Our Chief Architect Anne Mäkinen presents the new holiday home models that include options for more classical and modern tastes alike: Honka Ahto, Honka Lastu, Honka Nila and Honka Puhuri.
Spatial planning for a luxurious holiday home
Spatial planning can be used to create a feel of spaciousness, maximise views of the surrounding landscape and add practical functionalities for effortless holiday living. For example, the Lastu villa features large landscape windows that allow residents to enjoy nature in all of the essential spaces of the house – the living room, kitchen, the main bedroom, and the sauna. The space hierarchy of the Ahto model has been honed to perfection. The spacious hall features gorgeous windows that allow visitors to admire the surrounding views, and high, open ceilings allow the living room and kitchen to blend together beautifully.
Beautiful spaces come in all sizes. The 73 m2 Nila has a refreshingly functional layout. Both of the model’s bedrooms have their own walk-in closet that allows you to easily hide away any luggage. Nila also features a covered porch and a sauna with a separate entrance. I am especially proud of the layout of the 60 m2 Puhuri – despite the model’s compact size were able to include two bedrooms and a living room with windows facing in three directions.

Honka Ahto is a classic, charmingly cosy and spacious log villa. When you walk through the door into the hall, you can already feel how luxuriously airy the space is. The gorgeous glazed end window opens from the living room and kitchen with views to the nature, while the high ceilings add to the feeling of openness. The rooms on the mezzanine floor offer plenty of space to accommodate children or guests. The classically beautiful Ahto fits beautifully into Lapland’s scenery, but is also at home by the lake or sea.
“I feel that Honka Ahto captures the Finnish dream of holiday living in an iconic way. After all, it is a modified version of Villa Möhkölä, a Honka log villa located in Lapland, which has gained popularity on social media. The space planning is very functional and the villa is well suited as a second home even for a larger family, or for rental use in different terrains from north to south.”

Honka Lastu is a spectacular holiday home that allows the surrounding nature to simply flow into the daily living experience. Both the main bedroom and living room feature luxurious, large landscape windows. The interior is well dimensioned and functional. The living room offers space to enjoy quality time together with friends or family, and the windows allow residents to enjoy the scenery even in the sauna or kitchen. With its linear design, the holiday home is a beautiful fit for the shores of the sea or a lake.
“The Honka Lastu log villa has been inspired by the popular Honka Frame Poukama idea model. Lastu has a more linear and compact design, making it accessible to a wider group of landscape enthusiasts. The modern, outward-looking Lastu is a great choice for year-round holiday use.”

Honka Nila is an elegantly compact holiday home with an uncompromisingly functional layout. The sloping gable roof hides two bedrooms – both featuring their own walk-in closets – and a cosy living area. With its spacious porch and the outdoor access to the sauna, this model has the feel of a typical Finnish summer cottage. Nila was designed by building architect Senja Törmä as the final project of her studies.
“Honka Nila features a beautiful, folded shape under its main roof. It feels like a more modern take on the Honka Rantama model, which was inspired by the 70s and released last autumn. Nila’s layout is really brilliant – it includes many of the signature characteristics of Finnish summer cottages, but with a fresh, modern twist.”

Honka Puhuri is a small yet functional holiday home that has been inspired by fishermen’s huts found on the Finnish coast. Thanks to its narrow frame, it is well suited for a variety of different terrains. Despite its small size, the well-dimensioned Puhuri features two bedrooms and all the functionalities necessary for pleasant holiday living. The windows in the living room open in three directions.
“In terms of its outward appearance, Puhuri is closely related to the popular Honka Lintukoto collection. Puhuri’s spatial planning feels absolutely perfect – everything has its place. You couldn’t wish for a more compact and functional holiday home.”
